K I T began playing the guitar when he was 14 years old. He was born into a musical family, with his second cousin being a part of the influential 1960s band The Yardbirds and his father spending weekends playing in pubs and social clubs. He drew inspiration from artists such as Lauv, Troye Sivan, and Jack Antonoff while studying songwriting and performance at the Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts. He also immersed himself in the city's constantly expanding network of writers and recording studios. In the middle of 2019, K I T finally settled on a formula that included writers and producers Turvey and Halls.
