K I T began playing the guitar when he was 14 years old. He was born into a musical family, with his second cousin being a part of the influential 1960s band The Yardbirds and his father spending weekends playing in pubs and social clubs. He drew inspiration from artists such as Lauv, Troye Sivan, and Jack Antonoff while studying songwriting and performance at the Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts. He also immersed himself in the city’s constantly expanding network of writers and recording studios. In the middle of 2019, K I T finally settled on a formula that included writers and producers Turvey and Halls.

The river Since more than 50 years ago, there has been ample evidence of Mersey’s ability to wash up waves of Trans-Atlantic musical inspiration. Liverpool’s boy-next-door aesthetic has long provided a distinctive perspective for America’s progressive pop sound.

This is also true of K I T, which was created by Rich Turvey and Mike Halls (Blossoms, The Coral, Vistas). K I T and Mike Halls co-wrote “When We Say Goodbye,” which was recorded in Halls’ “Deadroom” studio, and it is the first single off K I T’s upcoming four-track EP, “Close Up,” which is due out in 2021.

Fast-rising Liverpool-based musician, K I T makes his much-anticipated comeback with the release of his ethereal new single “When We Say Goodbye,” following the release of his critically acclaimed debut EP “Close Up” last year.

When We Say Goodbye“, co-written with Mike Halls of Clean Cut Kid, finds him making a triumphant comeback with the same upbeat and energizing attitude he displayed on his debut album. He is continuing his ascent as one of the more compelling figures on the scene right now with his warm and rich tones, soaring atmosphere, and dazzling voice at the helm.

While his debut EP presented him as an audacious and creative act developing within his persona, “When We Say Goodbye” shows him maturing into that always-changing image. We are excited to hear where he takes his music next, with its broad and appealing approach to songwriting and production.
