The Backlash is a dynamic band hailing from Milan, Italy, formed in the spring of 2013. They swiftly rose to prominence after winning a new bands music contest, which opened doors for them to perform on prominent stages such as Tunnel and Alcatraz, solidifying their presence in Milan’s underground music scene. Their talent caught the attention of DJ Henry (Enrico Lezzeri), a notable figure in the Italian Northern Soul and Mod community, leading to a contract with RocketMan Records.

Their debut EP, “3rd Generation,” comprised six tracks that had already won the hearts of live audiences, garnering rave reviews and securing numerous live performances across Italy, Spain, France, and the UK. The band even supported The KVB during this period. After a brief hiatus from touring in August 2016 to focus on recording, they released their first full-length album, “Mindtrap,” in 2018. This album was promoted with significant support slots in Milan for bands like We Are Scientists and The Academic, and featured appearances at the prominent itinerant festival, In A State Of Flux. Seeking more control over their creative process and aiming to shorten the gap between recording and release, The Backlash established their own studio, “Right Bright Side” (RBS). This is where they produced their 2020 EP, titled “Passing By,” signaling a fresh phase in their changing music style.
