Bones in Butter releases their new post-rock single "Scenes From the Metro"

“Scenes From the Metro” by Bones in Butter

“Scenes From the Metro” by Bones in Butter is a new post-rock song that evokes a range of emotions for the listeners. The artist hints that the song is somewhat influenced by post-rock. The masterful orchestration and ecstatic quality of this song create an emotionally powerful and moving experience for the listeners

Since January 2019, Bones in Butter has been operating. Milutin Krasevic started it as a solo project, then, during the lockdown, he recruited talented and imaginative musicians from the Belgrade jazz and indie scenes to form a band. Numerous bands and musicians, especially from the 1980s and 1970s, have had a significant impact on music, including Lou Reed, the Stranglers, Wire, Magazine, the Electric Light Orchestra, etc. However, they strive to produce a distinctive and modern sound rather than considering themselves to be a “retro” or “revival band.”

Milutin Krasevic is the leader of the Serbian band known as Bones in Butter. There are a variety of participants in the Belgrade alternative music scene. Six musicians with years of traveling and band experience make up the act. The band Bones in Butter, consists of Milutin Krasevic (synths, lyrics, music, vox, and samples), Luna Skopelja (vocals and samples), Todor Zivkovic (guitars), Dejan Skopelja (bass), Tom Fedja Franklin (drums), Thomas Craymer (back vox), and Srdjan Popov (mixing), makes music that enchants listeners all the time. With its profound musical talent and wonderful lyrics, this is undoubtedly a performance that will give you goosebumps. Undoubtedly, this is a sight to behold. Please give them a try; you will undoubtedly fall in love with their entrancing musical abilities.

Bones are Butter’s single “Scenes From the Metro,” which was released on January 6th, 2023, has a Pink Floyd-like, ethereal vibe to it. It doesn’t have the same atmosphere as your average metro station, which is how I would characterize it, depending on your local station. It might also involve a decent amount of fear, boredom, and fury. The artist hints that this work is somewhat influenced by post-rock, which is true.

I first became familiar with this band through their single “Down But Not Out,” and now they’re back with “Scenes From The Metro,” one of their best recent singles. The song is masterfully orchestrated and undoubtedly has an ecstatic quality, and you will experience the lowest of lows and the highest of highs on this path. The song begins with a gloomy, euphoric tune that gradually gives way to an upbeat mood. It was beautifully written and done. What initially captivated me about this tune was how the drums added minor influences to the overall feel. The voices are masterfully performed to produce a very moving ambiance.

Srdjan Popov recorded, mixed, and mastered the song at Belgrade’s HillRiver Studio. The entire band took part in the production process, and a talented and prolific British singer, songwriter, and guitarist named Thomas Craymer also joined them. His music draws heavily from the Canterbury scene. He sang the track’s background vocals. “Interesting historical fact: The song “Lili Marlen” received its radio premiere through Radio Belgrade, then the Kingdom of Yugoslavia, in 1941 during the German occupation.

This song is somewhat experimental by Bones in Butter standards as it showcases their foray into the post-rock and psychedelic genres. Milutin Krasevic sampled the song “Lili Marlen” by Lale Andersen, played it backward, and added bits of it to the mix in order to create an ambiance that is evocative of the 1930s but would also include futuristic or even dystopian aspects.

It’s incredible how this band elevates the song to a whole other level. This should definitely be explored! You won’t be sorry if you give this song a try.
