His work has already been released to great acclaim on compilation CDs, such as “Origin: See the Light,” “New Horizons,” and “Inundations,” and he has performed for audiences in the US and Ireland. His compositions are inspired by life, love, and grief (which also featured music from leading international acts, including Josh Ritter, Ron Sexsmith, Lloyd Cole, Damien Rice, Mundy, and The Frames).
The previous single from Irish singer-songwriter Sano Hill, “Sing Out Loud,” is an exuberant, guitar-driven tune that highlights the performer’s expressive live approach. Since making his musical debut at the beginning of 2022, Hill has released four singles. The singer-songwriter has amassed over 100k streams on Spotify alone and has been causing a stir with his powerful voice and distinctive compositional approach all around the world.
With its country/folk-inspired riffs and vintage rock beats, “Sing Out Loud” will have you singing along by the time it’s through. You once again awaken to the sound of music: “Another day, another chance to do things right/To walk out from behind the grin where you hide/The melody was so clear playing in your thoughts.” Hill’s five-minute track begins softly and continues with his beautiful writing. He uses incredibly inventive melodies, yet he also appeals to listeners’ familiarity to keep their interest.
Hill displays his moving voice exquisitely here, first accompanied by mild beats and calming string music. Hill keeps singing over an optimistic groove as the song goes on about overcoming challenges and emerging stronger. His words convey a sense of relief, and the way he incorporates these feelings into his performance is extremely inspirational. Additionally, the track’s sophisticated production and arrangement truly help the story stand out.
Hill channels the sound of Galway, Ireland, in his music, and I have to admit, he does a fantastic job of it. It is both calming and energizing. Since the release of his first single, “The Climb,” on January 28, 2022, the four singles he has so far released—”Sing Out Loud,” “Circlewalk,” and “The Climb,” as well as “Starting Over”—have all received widespread praise from critics around the world and have attracted significant interest from listeners everywhere. On Spotify alone, his songs have received over 135,000 streams. Sano Hill has a really distinctive singing style that gradually develops on you and becomes quite addicting.
The subtle personal touches he makes to the overall aesthetic—such as how he manages slides and screams—become his trademark. According to the Galway Advertiser, Sano Hill “is blessed with a strong and distinctive voice,” and his music has been dubbed “a timeless recipe for original guitar music with inventive, humanist lyrics sung from the gut, then embedded in rhythms to barrage or soothe the soul.” The Wisconsin Journal Sentinel reports. According to the prestigious Irish music publication Hot Press, Sano Hill “tries to convey the sound, feel, and smell of Galway in a similar spirit to Van Morrison’s greatest works about his birthplace, Belfast.” Hot Press declares
The next album, “If Not Now, When?” will be published in March 2023 and follows a romance from its promising beginnings to its emotional ups and downs, breakup, and eventual healing.
