Walter Hansen is a composer, singer, award-winning multi-instrumentalist, and producer creating innovative synthwave and chillwave music. Known for complex instrumentation and warm vocals, he has composed since childhood. Originally from Tampa Bay and now based in the Greater Seattle Area, he studied at Florida State University’s School of Music and performed with the United States Navy Band in Europe, while collaborating with industry professionals like Lewis Martinee.

Walter Hansen’s original EP “Perspective” is a deeply immersive instrumental journey that blurs the lines between easy jazz and synth driven orchestration. Hailing from Tampa, Florida, Hansen crafts a project designed to be experienced sequentially, each track unfolding like a chapter in a larger emotional narrative. Yet, much like life itself, every piece stands independently, its own self contained reflection, while contributing to a broader meditation on how our perspectives shape and reshape us.
Released initially in 2016, “Perspective” highlights Hansen’s remarkable command as a jazz saxophonist. His connection to the instrument is striking. The saxophone does not merely carry melodies, it speaks. There are moments when its tone feels less like brass and more like breath, intimate, confessional, and profoundly human. The easy jazz foundation is enriched by carefully layered synth textures that add atmosphere without overwhelming the organic core. This interplay between acoustic warmth and electronic ambiance gives the EP its emotional lift, allowing chords to swell gradually and scenes to form vividly in the listener’s imagination.
