The Northern Light is a brand-new indie/alt-rock band from Seattle. The band was formed in 2016 to record their debut EP with Jeremy Serwer at Etruria in Seattle. David Pollon is the lead singer and guitarist. Kip Rondorf and Carl Larsson are the band’s drummer and bassist, respectively. The founder of this great band, David Pollon, performed at the Seattle Acoustic Festival later that year, to the audience’s delight. The band returned in 2019 to record their DIY album.
The band released “Waiting For the Flood” as a new single on November 1st, 2022, and it is currently streamable on all platforms. The band goes on to describe how their new song, “Waiting for the Flood,” expresses the idea that truth is being kept back until it manifests in reality. This incredible track is thought to have been greatly influenced by the music of Jane’s Addiction, Rush, and Neil Young.
There is no question that “waiting for the flood” will undoubtedly capture the hearts of many more admirers throughout the world. NORTHERN LIGHT’s prior releases have so far helped them earn a considerable level of popularity in Seattle.

Who are the band members and what do they play?
The Northern Light includes songwriter, guitarist-singer David Pollon, bassist Carl Larsson and drummer Kip Rondorf.
How and where did you get together?
David played in the alt-folk scene in Seattle for years performing songs on acoustic guitar until he felt the need to bring a bigger
band sound to his music. Kip and Carl joined up after being found on social media in and around Seattle. David played events such
as the Seattle Acoustic Festival in 2017. Our first EP was recorded in 2016 with Jeremy Serwer at Etruria in Seattle and then our
first full-band record DIY was recorded in October of 2019.
What are the band’s main influences?
Main influences include Neil Young and RUSH but there’s also some Jane’s Addiction in there.
Have you played any notable gigs, festivals, or other events? Likewise radio or TV appearances?
We play many shows in and around the Seattle area. Our next show is on 11/17 at Darrell’s Tavern in Shoreline. We’re making plans
for our first tour in summer 2023 to bring our music out. We plan to do a loop down to Portland, out to Boise, up to Missoula, and back through WA state.
Are there any other interesting or amusing happenings – no matter how small – that the band has been involved with
that would be of interest to those who like your music?
We’re a bunch of Dads in a business that is focused on really young people. It feels like we’re doing this backward but it means
that our music draws upon a lot of life experience, raising our kids and trying to make our way in the world, and making a lot of mistakes along the way.

Where was the single/EP/album recorded and who was involved in its production?
Waiting For The Flood was recorded at 1-Shot Studio in Woodinville, WA. It was engineered, mixed, and mastered by Dylan Fant in October 2022.
Is there a particular ethos behind the single/EP/album or any particular music styles or events that inspired it?
Feelings of regret, frustration, and fear of the future. The single draw upon personal experiences as well as the political and environmental climate in the US today.
Can you briefly describe what the song/each song is about?
If you are releasing an album then either describe the thinking behind the project or choose a couple of lead tracks to focus on. Waiting For the Flood is based on holding on too long to truths that must be spoken. Running away and burying those unspoken truths lead to a flood that delivers disaster whether personally or in our society and environment.

Obviously the more eye-catching this is the better. Waiting For The Flood is a new direction for The Northern Light. We’ve moved beyond our older songs which were built to be played by an acoustic singer-songwriter, now our songs are fully integrated with the band with all 3 of us having the freedom to explore the range of our instruments and voice.
