The new single from Dunebug, “Still Dreaming,” is a song about being anxious and dreadful after having reoccurring nightmares about an abusive former boyfriend. It is enveloped in a beautiful, textured blanket. Dunebug has rebounded strongly on the gig front despite the lockdown having a negative impact on so many artists and their shows; a headlining spot at the O2 Islington is just one of several fantastic line-ups since live music has resumed.

Below are a few reviews of Chi Limpiroj’s work from devoted listeners. So far, she has received praise from both musicians and music organizations.

In Tune Music: “Her debut EP graces the ears with an unkept and unprocessed body of beautifully elegant and textured layers. The sense of comfort and warmth is reflected in the cozy bedroom environment in which it was created, an honest and cathartic first offering from an extremely talented new artist”

For The Rabbits: “Dunebug’s sound is delightfully dreamy, resplendent with warm guitar tones, lushly layered backing vocals, and the magic lead vocal line that seems to hide its sadness in a wash of airy beauty”

Buffablog: “Impossible With You” is surfy and subtle with a tasteful flavoring of retro 50s rock. This one would sit comfortably on a shelf next to Best Coast, Soccer Mommy, or even a Beach Boys record… Somber and sweet, “Impossible” is full of vibey nuances like swept guitar strums and vocal ah-ah- hhs drenched in reverb”

Indie LDN: “Although she is an experienced musician, her sound brings a youthful energy similar to artists such as Beabadoobee and Clairo. Paired with touching lyrics and the atmosphere of her influences, such as Cat Power and Beach House, Dunebug is not one to miss!”

In Tune Music: Chi retains her artistic individuality in the granular texture of her vocals, yet I can’t help but draw comparisons to the likes of Mazzy Star and Slowdive, which is in no way a criticism if anything it highlights how far her songwriting has come”

Backseat Mafia: “Beautifully sunny but with this faraway melancholy that soaks through, ‘Impossible With You‘ wends its dream-pop way through, with these breezy guitars and hazy melodies running over you, Chi’s vocal a comfort blanket to everything that’s going on right now.”

Pink Wafer  “With a sound that makes you feel like you are one of the only people in the world, Dunebug is one to watch”
