“God-like” Official music video presents the return of GreenHouse

God-like. A Modern-day Parable (Official Music Video) by GreenHouse

Following their breakthrough debut album “Full Circles” last year, Australian band GreenHouse has returned with their captivating new single “God-like.” Accompanied by a stunning new video, which debuted on November 4, 2022. The four-piece return in stellar form throughout “God-like,” directed and edited by GreenHouse frontman Michael Ormond Robinson. Their latest effort, bringing back more of their rich and dynamic indie-rock direction, marks a wonderfully vibrant moment in their career to date.

The song “God-like” is a more personal message, but GreenHouse has had some explosive fun in the video extrapolating metaphors and blowing up the system! It emphasizes a power imbalance that is only a whisper away from erupting into violence. A young, intelligent, inspired, and a connected cohort of society must undoubtedly emerge, armed with a more environmentally conscious, inclusive, and empathic vision for their future, to usurp power from a global patriarchy that has had its day.

Yet, for us, that power structure stands tall, arrogant, and unaware, believing it is infallible, even “God-like.” With “God-like,” the end is near. GreenHouse began with a post-punk sensibility akin to The Chameleons in order to create beautiful epic anthems of potent melodic joy. They then pile it on top of a shoegaze distortion dream reminiscent of early Ride.

It’s been an agonizingly long wait since GreenHouse’s first three singles all reached the top ten on the Australian Alternative Charts, but it’s finally here. While many were anticipating the band’s international recognition, GreenHouse appeared to withdraw from public view. Their hiatus, however, has been cut short. GreenHouse vowed to keep a promise made to Glen and their fans following the sudden and tragic death of their drummer Glen, as well as the challenges posed by the pandemic.

GreenHouse has screamed their way into 2022 with the release of “God-like,” the first of a series of singles to be released ahead of their long-awaited debut album. The album, which was recorded in Victoria’s Wombat State Forest and then mixed and mastered in the UK by legends Barny Barnicott and Streaky Gee Arctic Monkeys, Sam Fender, Kasabian, The 1975, and Snow Patrol, is set to be released nationally and globally in 2023.

The new GreenHouse music video for their song “God-like” is a powerful critique of an outdated patriarchy that may be on the verge of extinction. You will undoubtedly enjoy it.
