Welcome Midnite Radio. Before we begin our conversation, here is what you need to know about this remarkable collective. Emerging as a vibrant force in the modern rock scene, Midnite Radio is a euphoric and theatrical band that seamlessly fuses soulful melodies with dynamic, larger than life production. The group was founded by longtime friends and creative collaborators Lee Coram on guitar and Beak Wing on drums, both originally from Lebanon, Tennessee, whose shared passion for storytelling through music laid the foundation of their sound.

Their lineup was later shaped through a series of serendipitous collaborations. Beak Wing brought in Los Angeles based vocalist and keyboardist Ken Christianson alongside bassist Miles Martin, while Lee Coram invited fellow Lebanon native Jon Shearer on lead guitar, with each member contributing their own unique energy and artistic identity. In 2025, this eclectic ensemble came together in Nashville to craft their debut EP “Auntie,” spending months in both remote collaboration and studio sessions refining their signature rock aesthetic, leading into the release of “Fear No Stars” as a defining expression of their collective vision.

Having this brief Introduction, I’m sure new and current fans must be excited about our Interview today.

INTERVIEW

Faithfulness: Midnite Radio feels rooted in both friendship and storytelling. How did that early bond between Lee Coram and Beak Wing shape the identity of the band today?

Midnite Radio: We’ve been actively playing and making music for thirty years at the point. We’re both dads now. Everyone in the band is. At this stage in life, we’re making bucket list songs and records with people we love, in environments we dig a lot. Legacy stuff we can all be proud of. -Beak

Faithfulness: Your origins trace back to Lebanon, Tennessee. How has growing up there influenced the emotional and sonic foundation of your music?

Midnite Radio: Lee, Jon, and I shared a common bond of growing up in Lebanon, 30 mins east of Music City USA. As teenage musicians, Nashville was like OZ off in the distance. We were hungry for rock and roll while growing up in the Bible Belt. We didn’t know it at the time how spoiled we were growing up around so many studios and venues, and a great scene of local bands. This was long before everyone had home studios. -Beak

Faithfulness: The lineup came together through what feels like fate. At what moment did it click that this group had something truly special?

Midnite Radio: Although we did a lot of remote writing and pre-production, the affirmation came on day one at Forty-One Fifteen (studio), all playing in a room together. There was an immediate chemistry apparent.

Faithfulness: Each member brings a distinct artistic voice. How do you balance individuality while maintaining a cohesive band identity?

Midnite Radio: There’s no egos in the band. All opinions are heard, and decisions are based on majority vote of whatever best serves the music. There’s also tremendous safety and trust in exploring different approaches to parts, dynamics, and feel. -Beak

Faithfulness: Your sound is described as euphoric and theatrical. What does “theatrical” mean to you in the context of your music and performance style?

Midnite Radio: “Euphoric” to me would be that it is a full sound instrumentally, from the different elements, it’s dense. There’s a lot to grab onto… but it’s also filled with spaces… between the low thump and growl of the bass and drums to the sentimental fragility of Ken’s vocals and strings and the raw but driving guitar parts. It’s a pretty delicious buffet ti choose from. The overall feeling, while powerful, is uplifting. It evokes theatrical elements in the sense that it plays along very real emotional landscapes we all find ourselves in but it superimposes them in cosmic elements. It’s a very old story, the human condition… but torn between powerful forces and trying to find your way forward. -Miles

“Oh I don’t know, we’re still figuring out a lot about ourselves as a project, I will say it’s encouraging to hear those reactions. I think we all share a love for anthemic choruses, ambient textural snippets, cinematic string layer & gang vocals. I’m excited to record more” -Jon

Faithfulness: “Fear No Stars” introduces listeners to your debut EP Auntie. What made this track the right entry point into your world?

Midnite Radio: Straight forward rock song. The track has tons of momentum and drive but also a feel of intricacy and intimacy. -Miles

“Because we all loved tracking it. We all felt it was the single coming out of the sessions at 4115.

Kinda decided unanimously.

Our gut said “that one” to everyone simultaneously.  – Jon

Faithfulness: The title “Fear No Stars” feels bold and symbolic. What does it represent emotionally or conceptually for you as a band?

Midnite Radio: The title of the song is about finding solace and solidarity at the edge of the unknown. -Ken

Faithfulness: Sonically, your music blends soulful melodies with large-scale production. How did you approach achieving that balance on this single?

Midnite Radio: Charlie Chamberlain (engineer) has a wonderful way of maintaining a vocal intimacy while conjuring massive tones. It was tremendously beneficial to have him both engineer and final mix the album. -Beak

Faithfulness: You worked across locations like Nashville and Los Angeles. How did remote collaboration shape the final sound of “Fear No Stars”?

Midnite Radio: We spent several months emailing tracks and stems between each other prior to landing in Nashville to record for a week. This allowed a lot of freedom for everyone to work through ideas and sketches, and to solidify song arrangements. -Beak

Faithfulness: Recording at Forty One Fifteen with Charlie Chamberlain. What did that studio environment bring out in your performance or sound?

Midnite Radio: Forty One Fifteen feels like home. It’s an old Craftsman house in the heart of east Nashville. Such amazing vibes and gear. Always the best experience working out of that place over the years. There’s total trust and camaraderie in working with Charlie. He’s a not so secret weapon we are proud to have onboard. -Beak

Faithfulness: Was there a moment during the creation of “Fear No Stars” where the track transformed into something unexpected?

Midnite Radio: The original demo can be heard on the Single release. It has the original drum groove which was reworked, changing the whole approach while keeping the original melody and hook. -Beak

Faithfulness: The track is paired with an original video. How important is the visual component in expressing the full identity of the song?

Midnite Radio: I was familiar with the motion graphics work of Matt Garton. I knew he would bring a cool aesthetic to our first video. The cosmic motif he came up with was perfect. It elevated the metaphors of the song. -Beak

Faithfulness: As part of your debut EP Auntie. How does “Fear No Stars” connect with the broader narrative or emotional arc of the project?

Midnite Radio: There’s an underlining tone lyric-wise with all the songs on the album that speaks about the anticipation, fear, acceptance and joy of the darkness beyond. -Ken

Faithfulness: Looking ahead. What risks or new directions are you most excited to explore as Midnite Radio continues to evolve?

Midnite Radio: We’ve already started another album, and working with Charlie again allows a freedom in exploring new sounds and rhythms. -Beak

Faithfulness: When listeners finish “Fear No Stars.” What feeling or thought do you hope stays with them the longest?

Midnite Radio: Hope and courage. The lyrics are about the uncertain future, and embracing the unknown together not with fear but with joy. -Ken

CHECK OUT THE RELEASE OF ‘Fear No Stars’

HAVING LISTENED TO ‘Fear No Stars’, HERE ARE MY HONEST THOUGHTS

“Fear No Stars” from the EP “Auntie” feels like a tightly controlled and emotionally focused piece that values restraint over excess. The track builds its identity through steady rhythm guitar patterns, grounded percussion, and a warm but muted tonal palette that keeps the energy forward-moving without becoming overwhelming. Its production leans into space and clarity, using subtle atmospheric layering to create emotional lift rather than dramatic peaks. Vocally, the delivery is calm and introspective, carrying a sense of persistence through uncertainty that aligns with the track’s reflective mood. What makes it stand out is how its cinematic quality emerges from discipline rather than grandeur, allowing each element to breathe while still feeling cohesive. As part of the EP, it bridges momentum and introspection, reinforcing the project’s themes of courage and forward motion while showcasing Midnite Radio’s collaborative sound identity across distance and creative trust through careful sonic restraint.
