Hello everyone it’s your host Daniel from Dulaxi, and today I have with me the exceptional band, Filipovich from Minsk, Belarus. And Filipovich is here to discuss their recent single “Даже”, which was released on May 24th, 2026. So, welcome, Filipovich! But before we begin our interview, to our audience; here is what you need to know about this artist.
Filipovich is an indie rock band from Minsk, Belarus, widely recognized for their authentic sound, thought-provoking lyricism, and unwavering commitment to live instrumentation. Emerging from a serendipitous formation rooted in shared passion for rock music, the band brings together musicians with diverse artistic influences that merge into a uniquely textured and emotionally resonant sonic identity. At the core of the project is Natalia Filipovich, who serves as the principal songwriter and vocalist, shaping the band’s introspective lyrical direction and expressive vocal delivery. She is supported by Vladimir Burshnev, whose contributions on bass guitar and guitar play a central role in shaping the band’s arrangements, and Elisey Kapranov, who handles drumming as well as recording and production duties, reinforcing the group’s hands-on, organic creative process. Later joined by Alexey Ignatenko as bassist, the lineup evolved into a tightly knit unit whose dynamic chemistry sets them apart within the contemporary indie rock landscape. Known for their strong live reputation across venues in Minsk, including a standout festival performance that received local television broadcast, Filipovich continues to build momentum as a compelling voice in modern alternative music. This artistic identity is further expressed in their sixth official single, “Даже” released 24 May 2026, a deeply existential composition that reflects on the bittersweet nature of growing up, shifting life goals, and confronting inevitable change. The song explores inner emptiness and emotional loss as people and places fade, yet reframes this void not as despair but as an open space for rediscovery and renewed purpose. Staying true to their artistic principles, “Даже” was recorded entirely with live instruments, deliberately rejecting VST emulations and digital synthesis to preserve raw emotional authenticity. The band describes the track as an exercise in stripping everything away to reveal identity when external noise fades, ensuring that every note is performed live in the room, resulting in a soundscape that is organic, human, and deeply immersive.
Having this brief Introduction about Filipovich, I’m sure new and current fans must be excited about our Interview today.
INTERVIEW SESSION
Daniel: How did Filipovich come together in Minsk, and what role did shared passion and serendipity play in shaping the band’s identity from the beginning?
Elisey (drums): It’s a pretty funny story. A mutual friend of Natalia’s and mine brought us together. Natalia was a songwriter and had a lot of material, and I was just starting to learn the drums.
So she suggested we get together and try playing together. And that’s how it all started, we started rehearsing together, trying to play something.
Then Vladimir joined our group and was able to liven things up and add some musical variety, and then he took over the role of arranger entirely.
So, yes. You could say there was a certain randomness to the formation of our identities.
Daniel: With members bringing different musical tastes, how has that diversity influenced the band’s chemistry and overall sound across your work so far?
Natalia (vocals, guitar): I think the band’s chemistry wasn’t influenced by our diverse musical tastes, but rather by our distinct personalities. We complement each other very well.
Everyone is willing to listen to the other member’s voice to find a cohesive sound. The result is an interesting mix that we call “hard-funk.”
Daniel: Your live performances have gained attention locally, including festival appearances that reached television broadcast, how has that live reputation shaped your growth as a band?
Elisey (drums): It’s discipline us. We have to be extremely responsible in every detail, from rehearsals to interactions with those around you.
“Daniel:* “Даже” explores existential reflection and growing up, what core message were you trying to communicate through this single?
Natalia (vocals, guitar): Honestly, there’s no specific goal for the song to convey smth. It’s important that everyone can relate to the song.
That it resonates with them. Every listener will interpret everything differently; everyone has different life experiences.
The main thing is that the song resonates with them and that the listener experiences their own moments and situations with us.
Daniel: The song touches on inner emptiness and the fading of people and places, how does this sense of loss transform into the idea of a “blank canvas” within the track?
Alexey (bass): The feeling of loss is always associated with emptiness. And emptiness is a “blank canvas.” A blank canvas is another opportunity to paint a new picture of life… A new composition…
Daniel: In “Даже,” you describe stripping away noise to understand oneself, how did you translate that concept into the emotional tone of the song?
Vladimir (guitar): We added more noise. And after the noise stops, the silence becomes even stronger. I’m not entirely sure that it worked, though, and that anyone would understand us.
Besides, skill comes with experience, so the concept was tailored to the emotional tone of the resulting track.
Daniel: Which specific lyrical lines in “Даже” stand out to you most, and what meaning do they carry within the song’s overall message?
“Natalia (vocals, guitar):* The most striking line in the song is “I don’t even know who’s important to me now.”
It’s an emotional breakdown, when even something close and dear isn’t always what it once was. It’s a reset. A reset and a scare.
Daniel: The emotional journey of “Даже” moves between sadness and rediscovery, how did you balance those contrasting feelings within the song’s narrative?
Natalia (vocals, guitar): All the emotions in the song’s narrative are built on the musical arrangement.
Calm, thoughtful, yet laconic verses, and heartbreaking, hysterical choruses. A turning point that can be felt through sound.
Daniel: What was the decision behind recording “Даже” entirely with live instruments, and how did that choice shape the song’s creative process?
Elisey (drums): “Даже” is far from our first song recorded exclusively with live instruments. So the question of how to record the track never even came up.
Even before our first releases, we made two videos where we played the songs, let’s say, in an experimental sound—you can watch them on our YouTube channel. Then we recorded them live.
I really liked how they sounded back then – there was a certain honesty and sincerity to them. Later, the choise of not to use VST emulations really disciplined us.
You have to work hard on a song to make it sound to the listener as if we were playing not somewhere in a studio, but right in front of them.
Daniel: Why did you choose to completely reject VSTs and digital synthesis, and what impact did that have on the authenticity of the final sound?
Elisey (drums): I believe an artist needs to be honest with their listeners, and our music should sound the way it sounds when we play it.
And recording real guitars and drums into real amps is, in my opinion, the only way to remain honest with our listeners.
And it’s this honesty that gives our sound its authenticity.
Daniel: How did Elisey Kapranov’s role in recording and production influence the structure and sonic direction of “Даже”?
Elisey (drums): I don’t influence the song structure. That’s not my role. My job is to record the drums and then convey our vision to the people who help us in the songwriting process.
Explain what we want to hear, so the recording engineer can select the right equipment, and then so the mix engineer can put everything together correctly.
Daniel: As your sixth official single, how does “Даже” reflect your growth and evolution as a band since your earlier releases?
Natalia (vocals, guitar): The band’s development is a constant and ongoing process. With each new recording, we feel more confident and free, which, in turn, helps us improve and grow.
Understanding how to work with a sound engineer and knowing how to make the next project even more interesting.
** Daniel:** How have your experiences in Minsk and the indie rock scene influenced your artistic identity and long-term direction?
Natalia (vocals, guitar): Our experience working on Belarusian music stages and collaborating with many local bands has, first and foremost, given us a network of incredibly cool people and professional musicians.
Many of them were incredibly supportive early on and believed in us, for which we are incredibly grateful.
Perhaps, in large part, thanks to this, we had the courage and enthusiasm to move forward, realizing that we are truly amazing.
Daniel: How have Natalia Filipovich’s personal reflections and writing process shaped the emotional depth of your music over time?
Natalia (vocals, guitar): I write the harmony and lyrics. The emotional component of my lyrics, in turn, often oozes sarcasm. This has always been the case.
Emotions are intertwined with irony, the lyrics are poignant and memorable. We develop the musical depth together with the guys during the process of creating the arrangements. Over time, it becomes more and more interesting, and we enjoy the process.
Daniel: What challenges or transitions in life and growth are most reflected in the themes explored across your recent work?
Natalia (vocals, guitar): We’ve had our share of crises. The band was on the brink of breaking up several times.
After so much time together, I imagine we feel almost like family, and at the turning points, it all felt truly terribly painful.
The song “Даже” partially is also about that.
Daniel: What does this release represent for Filipovich in terms of artistic maturity and the direction you are currently moving toward?
Vladimir (guitar): It confirms the correctness of our approach to recording. This is already our third release with an analog recording, and the third release whose sound we have no complaints about. As for creative maturity, we prefer to think of ourselves as in our creative youth, we still have room to grow.
Daniel: How have listeners responded to the existential themes in “Даже,” and what feedback has stood out most to you?
Elisey (drums): One of our regular listeners wrote on Instagram that with each new release, our unique sound becomes more and more evident.
For me, this is an important signal that we’re heading in the right direction. It means all this fussing with analog hardware isn’t wasted.
Daniel: How do audience reactions differ between live performances and streaming platforms when presenting emotionally introspective material like this?
Vladimir (guitar): I’d like to believe that live performances generate more interest in listeners. Performing on stage allows both the audience and us on stage to become more deeply immersed in the music.
And perhaps the most challenging thing for us is to convey these sensations in our releases, so that listeners evoke the very feeling of a live performance.
Daniel: Looking ahead, what direction do you envision for Filipovich’s future sound and creative exploration?
Vladimir (guitar): Our goal is to make sure each new release is different from the previous one, with its own unique twist and character. We’ve never had the goal of fitting into genre clichés, so we’re free to experiment with different styles, within reason, of course. It would be interesting to try working with new timbres and instruments, with new or, conversely, outdated recording techniques. For example, I wouldn’t mind writing punk rock on balalaikas (ha-ha. Joking).
Daniel: Are there any upcoming projects, performances, or releases you can share about what comes next for the band?
Vladimir (guitar): Let’s say new songs are written faster than old ones are recorded. One track has already been recorded and is being mixed. There’s an idea to release a few old, unreleased songs as a live studio EP. The main thing is to find the time for all this, and, of course, not jinx it.
Having Had A Close Listen To This Deeply Reflective Piece Of Art, Here Are My Thoughts On Its Emotional Depth, Themes Of Emptiness, And Quiet Transformation.
Having had a close listen to “Даже,” by Filipovich, I find it to be a deeply introspective indie rock piece that transforms emotional emptiness into something quietly illuminating rather than bleak. The song explores the bittersweet experience of growing up, shifting life paths, and watching people and places fade, yet it avoids settling into sorrow, instead reframing loss as a blank emotional canvas for rediscovery. Vocally, the performance feels intentionally unguarded, carrying a restrained, almost conversational tone that makes the lyrics feel like private reflections rather than structured delivery, and this enhances the sense of inner uncertainty and self-redefinition running through the track. The instrumental design reinforces this emotional direction through a fully organic, live-recorded setup that rejects digital synthesis entirely, giving the song a raw, breathing quality where every sound feels physically present. The guitars alternate between delicate melodic phrasing and broader, more resonant textures, while the bass grounds the atmosphere with warmth and the percussion provides a steady, understated pulse that gently propels the song forward. Rather than relying on hooks or dramatic shifts, the structure unfolds gradually, allowing tension and release to emerge naturally, with each layer serving the emotional narrative rather than competing for attention. The production maintains a careful balance between voice and instrumentation, ensuring clarity without sacrificing atmosphere, which makes the entire piece feel cohesive and immersive. Ultimately, “Даже” stands out for its ability to find emotional depth in simplicity, using restraint, space, and sincerity to create a reflective listening experience that lingers long after it ends, reinforcing Filipovich’s identity as a band committed to authenticity and emotionally intelligent songwriting.
