Released on 1st August 2025, “MomentuM” marks the debut of Ephemera Veil, the solo project of Alexandra Cisárová, pianist and vocalist of Tisíc Viet. Built around expressive piano writing and delicate guitar work by Jimi Cimbala, who also produced the album, the record establishes an immediate sense of intimacy while opening into wide, cinematic emotional spaces. From the outset, it avoids conventional structure in favor of atmosphere, reflection, and gradual transformation.

Across its 11 tracks, “MomentuM” unfolds as a continuous emotional journey shaped by shifting harmonies, subtle rhythmic variation, and a strong sense of restraint. The piano remains the central voice, often carrying minimalist motifs that evolve slowly rather than resolving quickly. Around it, ambient guitar textures and layered production deepen the sonic field, giving each piece a sense of movement that feels internal rather than external.
MomentuM Album Track Reviews:
Mountain:
“Mountain” opens “MomentuM” as a quiet but defining overture, immediately establishing the album’s emotional and sonic identity through a sparse piano motif built on unresolved, triadic fragments that create a suspended, breath-held atmosphere. The close-mic recording captures every key press and pedal resonance, giving the piano a tactile intimacy, while faint ambient pads drift beneath the surface to suggest depth without overwhelming the minimalism. Alexandra Cisárová’s vocal delivery is restrained and intimate, often near-whispered, with phrasing that lingers slightly behind the beat, reinforcing a sense of hesitation and emotional weight. Instead of traditional harmonic progression, the track leans into modal stasis and repetition, allowing subtle shifts in tone and texture to carry meaning. The result is a meditative and weightless opening that feels elevated yet still, embodying the emotional altitude suggested by its title.

Magician:
“Magician” expands “MomentuM” into a more theatrical and fluid sonic space, shifting away from the stillness of “Mountain” into a gently pulsing sense of motion that never fully settles into rhythm. Built on layered piano arpeggios and atmospheric guitar swells from Jimi Cimbala, the track uses texture and harmonic ambiguity as its primary expressive tools, often drifting between minor tonal centers enriched with extensions that create a dreamlike, slightly disorienting atmosphere. Vocally, Alexandra Cisárová delivers one of her most expressive performances, moving between breathy head voice and more supported mid-register phrasing, with softened consonants that enhance the blurred, cinematic quality of the vocal line. Reverb is used as spatial architecture rather than decoration, placing her voice in a wide, reflective space that heightens emotional distance. The track thrives on dynamic illusion, constantly suggesting a rise toward climax without ever fully arriving, embodying its title through sustained tension, restraint, and the feeling of emotional sleight of hand.

Momentum:
“Momentum” stands as the emotional and conceptual core of “MomentuM,” translating the album’s idea of motion into its most tangible and rhythmically active form while remaining within a restrained cinematic framework. The piano becomes more assertive here, driven by repeated ostinato figures that gradually build in density, creating forward drive through accumulation rather than traditional percussion. Layered harmonic voices and rhythmic subdivisions intensify this effect, giving the impression of continuous acceleration without abrupt shifts. Alexandra Cisárová delivers her most controlled yet emotionally charged vocal performance, expanding her phrasing into longer sustained notes and a wider dynamic range that reaches into the mid-to-high register without ever resorting to belting, instead relying on breath tension and tonal restraint. The production is carefully balanced, with minimal low-end presence that allows piano and voice to dominate the midrange, reinforcing clarity and immediacy. Conceptually, the track embodies irreversible emotional progression, where motion feels inevitable, shaped by internal force rather than external rhythm.

Mighty River:
“Mighty River” serves as the emotional release of “MomentuM,” completing the album’s arc by shifting from control and elevation into fluid surrender. Where “Mountain” establishes stillness and “Momentum” builds structured intensity, this final piece dissolves both into a natural, flowing state. The arrangement expands into a more organic soundscape, with piano still at its core but now surrounded by elongated guitar sustains, ambient textures, and subtle harmonic echoes that evoke the movement of water. Its largely diatonic harmonic language creates openness and calm after the tension of earlier tracks. Rhythmically, the piece abandons strict pulse in favor of rubato-like phrasing, allowing time to stretch and contract in a way that feels current-driven rather than structured. Alexandra Cisárová’s vocal performance is at its most emotionally exposed, warmer in tone with natural vibrato and sustained vowels that project outward expression rather than inward reflection. The track ultimately dissolves into ambient space, offering continuation rather than resolution.

The album is conceptually grounded in themes of freedom, personal choice, and emotional consequence. These ideas are symbolically framed between two natural elements, Mountain and Mighty River, representing stability and unpredictability. Rather than presenting these as abstract concepts, the music translates them into sound through contrast, tension, and release. Moments of stillness are followed by harmonic shifts that feel organic, mirroring the unpredictable flow of thought and experience.
Vocally, Alexandra Cisárová maintains a restrained and introspective delivery, focusing on phrasing and emotional subtlety rather than power. Her voice blends into the instrumentation, functioning as another layer within the harmonic environment. This approach reinforces the album’s reflective nature, where emotion is suggested rather than declared. Jimi Cimbala’s guitar work adds a lyrical counterbalance, often emerging in quiet, expressive lines that expand the piano’s emotional reach.
MomentuM Is A Cinematic And Emotionally Intimate Album, Where Piano Led Compositions Flow Through Freedom, Reflection, And Transformation Across A Deeply Atmospheric Sonic Landscape Experience
~ Faithfulness (Dulaxi Team)
What ultimately defines “MomentuM” is its commitment to space, patience, and emotional honesty. The album resists urgency, instead allowing each musical idea to unfold naturally and accumulate meaning over time. It feels less like a sequence of songs and more like a carefully evolving psychological landscape shaped by memory and introspection. Ephemera Veil’s path toward this sound did not begin here. Her earliest musical presence appeared on YouTube, where she shared piano interpretations of bands such as Alice in Chains and Soundgarden. Those formative explorations laid the foundation for her expressive harmonic language, now fully realized in “MomentuM”, where that early curiosity matures into a cohesive and cinematic artistic voice.
