Released on October 2nd, 2026, “Right Person, Wrong Lifetime” introduces Luigi Neighbours through a deeply personal six song debut shaped by grief, change, love and the courage to begin again. Born from a period of profound transition, the EP reflects what happened when Luigi was forced to confront how quickly life can change after the unexpected loss of his father in 2024. Rather than allowing that loss to remain only a source of sorrow, he transformed it into a reason to stop postponing the life he wanted. Traveling alone, writing songs in Norway and eventually moving from the Netherlands to London, Luigi turned uncertainty into movement, allowing each new experience to influence the emotional world of his music.

Musically, the EP draws inspiration from the 2000s rock that first made Luigi fall in love with music, with influences from bands such as Nickelback, Daughtry, Lifehouse and The Goo Goo Dolls providing a recognizable foundation. Yet “Right Person, Wrong Lifetime” is not presented simply as a return to nostalgia. Luigi builds something personal around those influences through his self coined sound, Heartgrunge. The style combines Y2K rock, post grunge and emo undertones with pop hooks and cinematic romanticism, creating a sound that can carry the weight of distorted guitars while retaining a strong sense of atmosphere and emotional openness. There is also a visual quality to the concept, with forests, moonlight and supernatural imagery contributing to the larger world he calls Luigi’s Neighbourhood.
Right Person, Wrong Lifetime EP Track Reviews:
Right Person, Wrong Lifetime:
“Right Person, Wrong Lifetime” establishes the emotional foundation of Luigi Neighbours’ debut EP with a blend of atmosphere and early 2000s post grunge energy. The track opens with shimmering acoustic guitar arpeggios beneath atmospheric pads, creating an intimate space before a pulsating bassline builds momentum. The arrangement expands into a chorus, where heavily distorted electric guitars and thunderous drum fills deliver a cinematic stadium rock impact. Wide stereo production gives the instrumentation breadth while keeping the lead melodies clear. Luigi’s vocals heighten the song’s emotional contrast. His verses feel intimate and breathy, carrying a gravelly undertone that communicates weariness and yearning. When the chorus arrives, he shifts into upper chest register, delivering full throated vocals with controlled raspy grit. Layered harmonies strengthen the hook, complementing the bittersweet themes of timing, grief and unfulfilled connection. As the title track, it captures the heart of the EP through tenderness, scale and honesty.

Supernatural:
“Supernatural” moves Luigi Neighbours’ EP into a darker and more aggressive space, blending alternative rock intensity with cinematic atmosphere. The track opens around a brooding bass groove and subtle synth string textures, creating an otherworldly mid tempo mood. Crisp, staccato guitar chugs shape the verses before heavily saturated power chords expand the choruses with greater force. Explosive drum crashes, ringing cymbals and syncopated bass work maintain the song’s momentum, eventually leading into a soaring melodic guitar bridge before returning to its haunting central motif. Luigi matches this dramatic arrangement with a commanding vocal performance. His verses arrive in a dark, low baritone, using deliberate phrasing that enhances the mysterious fantasy imagery. As the instrumentation grows, his delivery becomes more passionate, reaching into his upper range with powerful melodic belting. Subtle delays and reverb trails surround his sustained notes, giving his voice an ethereal quality. Together, the production and performance capture emotions that feel intense enough to exist beyond ordinary boundaries.

Out Of Tune:
“Out Of Tune” brings Luigi Neighbours’ EP to an intimate and emotionally grounded close, stepping away from the heavier production heard elsewhere for a warm, acoustic driven arrangement. Close miked acoustic guitar strumming forms the foundation, allowing its natural resonance and subtle fret movements to remain audible. Soft kick drums, gentle shaker touches and warm ambient bass gradually enter the background, creating a steady, comforting pulse while leaving plenty of space for the song to breathe. Luigi’s vocal performance feels especially sincere and transparent, relying on emotional clarity rather than dramatic production. His soft, conversational delivery creates the feeling of a private late night confession, while subtle inflections, delicate vocal cracks and gentle transitions into head voice reveal the vulnerability within the performance. Instead of reaching for explosive vocal peaks, he allows restraint to carry the emotion. Through its stripped back arrangement and honest delivery, “Out Of Tune” transforms feelings of grief and dissonance into a quiet moment of acceptance, giving the EP a deeply human ending.

Across “Supernatural,” “Out Of Tune,” “Romance Isn’t Dead,” “Thank You,” “Surrogate You” and the title track, the EP moves through different expressions of love and loss. Its themes include loneliness, longing, grief, hope and the experience of encountering meaningful connections when circumstances do not necessarily align. The title itself captures one of the project’s central emotional ideas, exploring how something can feel genuine and significant even when the timing surrounding it is complicated. Throughout the record, sincerity remains important, allowing the songs to embrace romanticism without hiding from vulnerability.
At the heart of the EP is Luigi’s relationship with his father and the absence created by his passing. His father had been one of his strongest supporters, making the completion of this debut particularly meaningful. The project therefore becomes more than an introduction to a new artist. It becomes a continuation of a dream that Luigi chose to pursue despite realizing that the person he most wanted to share the moment with would not be there. That emotional foundation gives “Right Person, Wrong Lifetime” its sense of purpose, while the move from the Netherlands to London and the experience of starting over provide the wider backdrop for its creation.
