Welcome, Tahani. Before we begin, here is what you need to know about this talented artist. Tahani is a UK singer songwriter from Coleford in the Forest of Dean whose artistry is deeply rooted in lived experience, emotional honesty, and personal transformation. Working from her home studio, she collaborates remotely with Liverpool based producer Dan Scholes, a creative partnership sparked by a chance TikTok encounter that quickly evolved into a strong and consistent musical synergy. Her sound blends alternative pop, indie pop, and nostalgic early 2000s influences, shaped by powerful vocal inspiration and a commitment to storytelling that turns real life struggle into expressive, empowering music. Every release reflects her journey through adversity, identity, and healing, offering listeners a space where emotion is both acknowledged and transformed into strength.

Don’t Come Knocking” was born during a spontaneous writing session beneath summer fireworks, where melody and emotion came together in a single moment of inspiration before being developed further with Dan Scholes. The song moves through a clear emotional arc, beginning in vulnerability and rising into bold, unshakable confidence, capturing the moment heartbreak turns into self respect and freedom. Its structure builds intentionally from intimate verses into a powerful, stadium sized chorus designed for release, connection, and catharsis. One of its most defining qualities is its raw authenticity, with adlibs captured in a single unplanned take that preserves the instinct and emotional truth of the performance. At its heart, the track is a declaration of boundaries, self worth, and choosing oneself without hesitation, delivered through a sound that feels both personal and universally resonant.

Having this brief Introduction, I’m sure new and current fans must be excited about our Interview today.

INTERVIEW

Faithfulness: Growing up in Coleford in the Forest of Dean, how did your surroundings shape the emotional tone and honesty that runs through your music today?

Tahani: I actually grew up an hour away from the Forest of Dean in Chippenham Wiltshire. I only moved to the Forest in 2021 after meeting my now wife Micks, at the start of 2020. My past experiences frequently influence my music and lyrics and I’ve always turned to music as a form of therapy in one way or another.

Faithfulness: Becoming a mum at 16 is a life-defining experience. How has that responsibility influenced the way you write and connect emotionally with your audience?

Tahani: Although becoming pregnant at 15 and becoming a mum at 16 was a challenge I wouldn’t change it for the world! My son (who is now 22) gave me a purpose and a reason to work hard and better myself at any opportunity I could! I wanted to give him everything I couldn’t have growing up myself. I use my own raw experiences as a template for my music, as I want to show the audience my struggles, but also show them that they too have strength to overcome anything they set their mind too.

Faithfulness: You’ve spoken openly about ADHD, Autism, and health challenges. How do these experiences shape your creative process rather than limit it?

Tahani: it’s helped me build resilience for sure. Nothing has ever truly come easy to me, and I’ve always had to fight that much harder than others around me to achieve my goals. However challenging that has been, I’ve done it each time. I soon learnt that just because something took my time and effort, it didn’t mean it wasn’t achievable!

I guess the only one thing that holds me back slightly is my chronic health conditions. I have a spinal tumour and bone disease in my back that causes immense pain and can be exhausting. At times this has led me to dark places mentally. However, I’ve always somehow pulled my self back from this and then channeled that emotion into music to try and help others get through the darkest days.

Faithfulness: Your journey with identity and coming out later in life carries deep emotional weight. How has that personal truth influenced your sense of artistic freedom?

Tahani: I didn’t really “come out” in a traditional sense. After being with my ex-husband from 15 to 33, I don’t think many people even knew I was anything other than straight. Instead of a gentle approach, I just hard-launched my now-wife to everyone. Doing something so impactful actually helped me embrace a brave and feminine side I’d never truly explored before. This newfound freedom and authenticity has undoubtedly poured into my music, allowing me to be even more honest and uninhibited in my artistic expression.

Faithfulness: You describe music as therapy and survival. At what point did you realise your own healing could become something that heals others too?

Tahani: Music has always been my therapy, a way to process my own struggles and find my way through dark times. I think I started to realize its potential to heal others when I saw how my raw experiences resonated with people. When I share my journey, my struggles, and how I’ve overcome them, I want to show my audience that they also possess the strength to get through anything. It’s about channeling that emotion into something positive, not just for myself, but to help others find their own path to healing.

Faithfulness: “Don’t Come Knocking” was born during a spontaneous moment watching summer fireworks. What was it about that moment that unlocked the emotional core of this song?

Tahani: It was a warm summer night in August, watching fireworks in the middle of the forest with my wife and children. In that moment, I felt such profound happiness. It was a realization of how far I’d come from the depressed, traumatized person I once was. I looked back and saw that my journey wasn’t about massive leaps, but countless tiny baby steps. I finally understood that I was truly happy, and I vowed never to let anyone take that from me. It was about separating myself from negativity and people who weren’t genuinely there for me, and that feeling of fierce self-preservation and joy became the emotional core of “Don’t Come Knocking.”

Faithfulness: The track moves from vulnerability into fierce empowerment. How did you intentionally shape that emotional journey within the songwriting?

Tahani: The emotional journey in “Don’t Come Knocking” was shaped by my own path from vulnerability to empowerment. It starts with acknowledging past hurts and the realization that I was breaking my own heart by being a people-pleaser. But then, it shifts to that moment of clarity under the fireworks – understanding my worth, setting boundaries, and choosing my own happiness. I wanted the song to reflect that transition, building from a place of introspection to a powerful declaration of self-worth and independence. It’s about finding your voice and saying, “This is my space, my peace, and I won’t let anyone disrupt it.”

Faithfulness: Working with Dan Scholes came from a chance TikTok encounter. How did that unexpected connection evolve into such a powerful creative partnership?

Tahani: Dan and I actually met after following each other on TikTok for many months in 2025. There was a natural synergy in our creative styles, and we just clicked. We worked together really well, and that connection quickly evolved into a powerful partnership, leading to the release of “17” an indie pop anthem that we released in January 2026. And now “don’t come knocking”

Faithfulness: The chorus feels designed for collective release, windows down, singing at full volume. What did you want listeners to feel in that moment?

Tahani: I wanted the chorus to be an anthem of liberation and self-celebration. That feeling of pure, unadulterated joy and freedom, like you’re driving with the windows down, screaming along to your favorite song. I want listeners to feel empowered, to feel like they’re finally shedding whatever negativity has been holding them back, and embracing their own strength and happiness. It’s a moment of collective release, a declaration that they are in control of their own peace.

Faithfulness: The adlibs were captured in a single unplanned take. Looking back, what do you think allowed that raw, unrehearsed magic to happen?

Tahani: The adlibs truly were a magical, unrehearsed moment. Everything just fell into place that day. The house was empty, which meant I could fully channel my energy without any fear or self-consciousness. It was an “in the zone” moment where I could just let go and pour every raw emotion into the performance, and it worked so perfectly.

Faithfulness: You blend alternative pop, dark pop, indie, and nostalgic 2000s influences. How did those textures come together specifically in this release?

Tahani: I’ve always been drawn to a diverse range of sounds, and “Don’t Come Knocking” really allowed me to weave those influences together. The alternative and dark pop elements give it that edgy, introspective feel, while the indie touches bring a sense of authenticity and raw emotion. And of course, the nostalgic 2000s influences are there in the catchy melodies and driving beats, creating a sound that feels both fresh and familiar. It’s a blend that I think perfectly captures the journey from vulnerability to empowerment.

Faithfulness: The song carries a strong message about boundaries and self-worth. Was there a personal turning point that inspired that message?

Tahani: There wasn’t one specific person or event, but rather a culmination of experiences. I’ve always been a people-pleaser, constantly striving to keep the peace and be there for everyone. I was always the first to offer help and support, but when I needed it most, I often found those same people weren’t there for me. That realization was heartbreaking. It was a turning point where I understood I was literally breaking my own heart by expecting the same love and effort back that I so freely gave. That’s when the message of setting boundaries and prioritizing my own self-worth truly solidified.

Faithfulness: You’ve described this track as both cinematic and deeply personal. If “Don’t Come Knocking” were a film scene, what would the audience be watching?

Tahani: If “Don’t Come Knocking” were a film scene, the audience would be watching a strong, independent woman. She’s not running away, but confidently walking towards her future, perhaps with a slight smirk on her face, knowing she’s finally free. She’s embracing her confidence and her feminine energy, ready to conquer the world on her own terms. It’s a scene of quiet triumph, where she’s shed all the expectations and negativity, and is now fully empowered and at peace with herself.

Faithfulness: When listeners finish “Don’t Come Knocking,” what do you hope stays with them emotionally long after the final note fades?

Tahani: I hope listeners are left with a profound sense of empowerment and self-worth. I want them to feel like they’ve been given permission to prioritize their own peace, to set boundaries, and to walk away from anything that no longer serves them. It’s about realizing their own strength, embracing their journey, and knowing that it’s okay to choose themselves. I want them to feel a surge of confidence, ready to face the world with a renewed sense of purpose and joy.

Faithfulness: Looking ahead, how does this release represent the next chapter of who Tahani is becoming as an artist?

Tahani: “Don’t Come Knocking” is more than just a song; it’s a declaration of who I am becoming. It represents a new chapter where I’m fully embracing my authentic self, both personally and artistically. It’s a testament to my resilience, my journey of self-discovery, and my commitment to creating music that is deeply honest and empowering. This release signifies a bolder, more confident Tahani, ready to share my truth and connect with listeners on an even deeper level. It’s just the beginning of a journey where I continue to explore my sound, my story, and my impact.

CHECK OUT THE RELEASE OF ‘Don’t Come Knocking’

HAVING LISTENED TO ‘Don’t Come Knocking’, HERE ARE MY HONEST THOUGHTS

“Don’t Come Knocking” is a bold country-pop anthem that turns heartbreak into pure emotional release through soaring, cinematic production. Built on Dan Scholes’ polished arrangement, the track opens with restrained instrumentation that highlights vulnerability before expanding into guitars, synths, and percussion. This slow build creates a powerful sense of emotional escalation, leading into a chorus designed for maximum impact and singalong energy. Tahani’s vocal performance drives the record, shifting seamlessly from intimate, fragile phrasing in the verses to a commanding, impassioned delivery in the chorus. Every note feels intentional, carrying both pain and release without losing clarity. Lyrically, the song is direct and cutting, rejecting reconciliation and embracing closure through sharp, declarative lines. The melody structure reinforces this emotional arc, balancing tension and release with precision. The production, vocals, and composition align to create a crafted, emotionally charged experience.
