She calls it “Holiday Soul,” and it was released on December 15, 2022. Desarae Dee wanted to write an instrumental holiday song that captured the tranquility, laid-backness, and peaceful aspect of the season that we frequently miss. The song “Holiday Soul” conjures up images of cuddling up by the fire with a cup of hot cocoa, taking in the winter scenery outside the window, and simply being in the moment. This year, she set out to offer her listeners and supporters that feeling, and she succeeded in doing so.
“Holiday Soul” is a fitting name for the music because it has a calming, rejuvenating effect on the soul after listening to it. It is a smooth fusion of jazz, R&B, and Neo-soul nuances that is timeless, calm, and expressive, and it makes you long for mistletoe and Yule log fireplaces. “Holiday Soul” brings “SOUL” to the “HOLIDAYS,” which has the spirit of an enduring holiday song and goes above and beyond the typical carol in terms of depth and melody.
This song was written by Desarae Dee during the first pandemic wave, but she didn’t decide to use it until around September because she didn’t put out any Christmas music in 2021. She knew she wanted to make some modifications and tweaks when it came to this song, as she was in a different frame of mind. She had the perfect partner in mind to realize her concept of giving it more of a Lofi Jazz and Neo-Soul vibe. She enlisted the help of her incredibly gifted co-producer, Connor Chan, also known as King Chino, and had the privilege of working with Gabe Gallucci, a multi-talented audio engineer in the business who has produced music for Johnny Orlando, Shawn Mendes, and other billboard charting musicians. Furthermore, she invited the incredibly skilled bassist Kemy Siala to add his distinctive sound. Anyone who knows her knows that she adores bass, so having him on another one of her records is always a treat. Because they all knew the task, she found working with these men to be simple.
I am a major lover of Desarae Dee‘s voice, but “Holiday Soul” is a piece that is entirely instrumental, and it is not at all disappointing. She maintains her angelic elegance while impeccably letting the emotive notes and resonating undertones do the talking.
