Hello everyone, it’s your host Oliver from DULAXI, and today I’m delighted to be joined by Peter Melodist, the young Polish musician also known as Piotr Kujunxhiu, whose debut original single, “Fear,” marks an important step in his development as a songwriter and rock artist. Based in Nowa Wola, Poland, Peter has been singing since the age of four and playing the piano since he was nine. With an interest in rock and electric-guitar-based music, he is now moving beyond performing covers to create original songs that reflect his own thoughts and feelings. Released on 23 August 2026, “Fear” introduces listeners to his approach to songwriting, exploring anxiety, vulnerability, and the importance of expressing emotions honestly. Written entirely by Peter, the single represents the beginning of a musical journey he hopes to continue developing through future releases.
Before we begin our conversation with Peter Melodist, here’s what you need to know about today’s featured project.
About Peter Melodist
For Peter Melodist, music has been a constant presence from an early age. What began with singing at home and performing karaoke developed into formal piano lessons, followed by years of singing and exploring music through performances of songs by other artists. His YouTube channel, @PeterMelodist, became part of that early journey, giving him an opportunity to perform covers, strengthen his musical abilities, and discover the styles that resonated most with him.
Rock music eventually became a particularly important influence. Peter was first drawn to Volbeat before discovering other established rock acts, including Metallica, Guns N’ Roses, The Rolling Stones, and Led Zeppelin through his parents. Listening to these artists and singing their songs encouraged him to pursue his own creative direction. His experience with covers also helped him understand different approaches to composition and lyrics, knowledge that would later inform his songwriting.
With “Fear,” Peter takes the next step by moving into original music. Released on 23 August 2026, the single is his debut as a songwriter and introduces a subject that is both personal and widely understood. Although the song’s title suggests a difficult emotion, its underlying idea is not simply about confronting or overcoming anxiety. Peter’s intention is to encourage people to acknowledge what they feel, accept that anxiety can be a natural part of life, and find the courage to talk about emotions rather than keeping them hidden.
Peter’s development as a musician is also shaped by his interest in several aspects of music-making. Singing, piano, and guitar provide him with different ways to explore ideas, while his continuing interest in how songs are composed gives him opportunities to learn from the artists he listens to. He describes himself as someone who is still discovering his individual style, with each new idea offering another opportunity to understand his creative identity.
At 13, Peter is at the beginning of his journey as an original recording artist. His ambitions extend beyond releasing individual songs. He hopes to develop a distinctive songwriting style while remaining authentic to his thoughts and feelings. Future releases will give him opportunities to explore different emotions and reflections, allowing his music to grow alongside his experience.
Having learned more about Peter’s early musical experiences and the ideas behind “Fear,” it is time to hear directly from the artist about his songwriting, his influences, and the kind of musician he hopes to become. So, without further ado, let’s begin today’s interview.
INTERVIEW SESSION
Oliver:
You started singing when you were just four years old and later began learning piano at nine. When you think back to those early years, what do you remember most about the way music first became part of your everyday life?
Peter Melodist:
Well I have always enjoyed singing. I used to sing karaoke at home. My parents noticed my inclination for music and enrolled me in music school for piano lessons—and that’s how it all began.
Oliver:
Before writing your own songs, you spent time performing cover songs on your YouTube channel. What did singing other people’s music teach you about finding your own voice, and when did you first realise that you wanted to start creating songs of your own?
Peter Melodist:
I’ve always wanted to create my own songs. Singing covers allowed me to improve my vocals and piano playing. It also helped me discover which musical genre resonates with me the most. Rock covers became the inspiration for my own songs.
Oliver:
You are now moving from performing covers into original rock music, with “Fear” marking an important first step in that direction. What does it feel like to have a song that came from your own ideas, rather than someone else’s, out in the world for people to hear?
Peter Melodist:
In my song, I am 100% myself—my thoughts, my feelings. Being able to share all of this with listeners is something special to me.
Oliver:
Playing piano, guitar and singing have all become part of your daily routine. How do these different sides of your musicianship work together when you are developing a new musical idea?
Peter Melodist:
All these skills help me a lot in creating my own songs. They keep my imagination constantly at work, and new ideas for my songs keep coming up all the time.
Oliver:
“Fear” is your debut original single, and you wrote both the music and lyrics yourself. What was happening in your imagination when you first began creating this song, and what made you want “Fear” to be the song that introduced your original music to listeners?
Peter Melodist:
At first, I imagined what my song might sound like. I knew it would be about anxiety as a feeling (Fear just sounded better). I wondered what combination of sounds would best convey the emotions associated with it. I wanted my listeners to feel it both musically and lyrically.
Oliver:
The title “Fear” is a powerful word because everyone experiences it differently. What does fear mean to you personally, and what did you want the song to express about that feeling through your lyrics?
Peter Melodist:
Anxiety accompanies us in various situations, and feeling it is completely natural. I believe we shouldn’t fight it, but accept it. And also talk about it. We shouldn’t bottle it up; doing so makes things easier. That is exactly what I wanted to convey to my listeners.
Oliver:
Because this is your first original release, writing the lyrics gave you the opportunity to say something entirely in your own words. How did you approach turning your thoughts or feelings into lyrics, and what was the most interesting part of discovering your own songwriting style?
Peter Melodist:
When I write lyrics for my songs, I put into words what I feel and what I think. I look for the best linguistic means that will work with the music. I am constantly in the process of discovering myself and my own style.
Oliver:
Your music is rooted in rock and electric-guitar-based sounds, while your musical background also includes piano and singing. How did you decide that rock was the right musical direction for your first original song, and what do you enjoy most about expressing yourself through that style?
Peter Melodist:
From the very beginning I was fascinated by rock music. The first rock band I heard and really liked was Volbeat. Then my parents introuced my to Metallica, Guns N’ Roses, The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin and others. Listening to them and singing their songs makes me want to pursue this path. Rock has that special thing that allows me to express myself.
Oliver:
Creating an original song is very different from learning and performing a cover because there is no existing version to follow. What was the biggest challenge you faced while making “Fear,” and how did you work through it?
Peter Melodist:
Finding the best means of expression—in both the musical and textual layers—was the greatest challenge for me. My imagination helped me here; at every moment, I was thinking about which sounds would best convey the emotion of fear.
Oliver:
When you hear “Fear” now after completing it, which part of the song makes you feel most proud as a young musician, whether that is something in the vocals, guitar, piano, lyrics, or another part of the recording?
Peter Melodist:
I’m proud of all the parts, each of them plays an important role in the song.
Oliver:
You have already built experience performing music for an audience through your cover songs, but releasing an original song means allowing people to hear something much more personal from you. How has that changed the way you think about performing and connecting with listeners?
Peter Melodist:
I think that thanks to my songs I connect with my listeners even more. “Fear” represents my thoughts and feelings, and that builds authenticity—and that is what the listeners feel.
Oliver:
Starting your original music journey at 13 gives you the chance to learn and grow alongside your songwriting. What have you learned about yourself as a musician from making “Fear” that you did not know before you started working on it?
Peter Melodist:
I have learned that the creative process brings immense pleasure and satisfaction. There is great joy in being able to share your feelings with others.
Oliver:
There is something exciting about releasing a debut song while knowing that more original tracks are already ahead of you. As you continue writing, what parts of your musical personality do you want to explore that you could not fully show through “Fear”?
Peter Melodist:
With each subsequent song, I would like to share various emotions and reflections. However, I also want to develop a distinctive songwriting style that will be uniquely associated with me.
Oliver:
Since you began with covers, you have already had the experience of learning songs written by other musicians. Now that you are becoming a songwriter yourself, how has that changed the way you listen to other artists and think about the music you want to create?
Peter Melodist:
When I listen to different songs, I pay attention to how they are composed and I listen to the lyrics. That is also where I look for inspiration for my own songs.
Oliver:
Music has been part of your daily routine for many years, from singing at four to learning piano at nine and eventually adding guitar and songwriting to your journey. What keeps you motivated to continue practising, learning and creating even on days when making music feels difficult?
Peter Melodist:
Music is my passion and it’s what I could do all the time. The hardest part, though, is when I have to choose between music and school. Despite this, music is the place where I can always find support.
Oliver:
“Fear” is only the beginning of your original music journey. When you imagine the songs you might create a few years from now, what kind of artist would you like Peter Melodist to become, and what would you hope people recognise when they hear your music?
Peter Melodist:
For me, the most important thing is to always be myself and to express my thoughts and feelings through my songs. I would like people to feel that I am authentic and also to find a part of themselves in these songs.
Oliver:
As you continue developing your own sound, what would make you feel that you have truly grown from the young musician who first started singing covers into the songwriter and rock artist you are working towards becoming?
Peter Melodist:
I believe that being an artist is about constant growth; for me, the most important thing is to always remain authentic in what I write, regardless of the stage of my musical development.
Oliver:
Finally, when someone discovers “Fear” and hears your original music for the first time, what would you most like them to understand about you, your music and the person behind the song?
Peter Melodist:
I would like every listener to find themselves in what I write—to recognize the feelings and emotions that they, too, experience. I want to convey that there is nothing wrong with talking about one’s emotions—not just the positive ones, but also those that are more difficult.
“Peter Melodist’s debut is a reminder that a song does not need to come from years of experience to communicate something personal. What matters is the willingness to look inward, find the words for difficult feelings, and share them honestly. In ‘Fear,’ a young musician begins defining his own artistic identity by making room for emotions that many people struggle to express.”
