The story of Hellkern Warriors began in early 2025, when Kabal reached out to Mauricio with the idea of creating a new international music project. What started as a simple conversation quickly developed into a shared vision of combining cinematic storytelling with darkwave, gothic rock, industrial influences, and atmospheric sound design.
The decisive turning point came in June, when Tom Radar introduced his first song ideas, including the early versions of Hellkern Warriors and Endless Road. To communicate the atmosphere he envisioned, he recorded demo versions himself, including vocals and guitars. The reaction was immediate. Kabal, Mauricio, and Fabian instantly connected with the cinematic mood and emotional depth of the music.
Each member brought their own musical background, influences, and creative perspective to the project. Tom contributed the songwriting, lyrics, vocals, and guitars, Mauricio added his experience as both drummer and producer through Artgot Studio, Fabian shaped the powerful bass foundation, while Kabal expanded the songs with analog synthesizers and atmospheric sound design.
The name Hellkern itself was inspired by the famous computer virus, an invisible force spreading silently through digital networks. We found this image fascinating because it perfectly reflects the atmosphere of our music: mysterious, cinematic, and impossible to ignore once it reaches you.
Endless Road became the foundation of what we later called “The Pulse of the Void”, a musical universe where every song opens the door to a different world. Since then, our goal has been not simply to release individual songs, but to gradually build an immersive universe that listeners can return to and lose themselves in again and again.

Each member of Hellkern Warriors comes with years of experience across different genres, from gothic metal and industrial music to alternative rock and electronic sounds. How have your individual histories as musicians shaped the identity of this project and influenced the kind of atmosphere you wanted to create together?
Hellkern Warriors:
Although we all come from different musical backgrounds, we quickly discovered that we shared the same artistic vision. From gothic metal and industrial music to alternative rock and electronic sound design, every influence contributes something unique to the identity of Hellkern Warriors.
Rather than focusing on a single genre, we think in terms of atmosphere. Our goal has always been to create music that feels cinematic, music that tells stories, creates images, and evokes emotions. Every member brings different strengths to that process. Some focus on rhythm and dynamics, others on melody, texture, or atmosphere, but everything serves the same purpose: building an immersive world for the listener.
That balance between power and restraint has become an essential part of our sound.

For us, the name Hellkern Warriors represents resilience, transformation, and the courage to find your own path in a world that is changing faster than ever before.
The name Hellkern originally comes from the famous computer virus. What fascinated us was never the virus itself, but what it symbolizes: an invisible force capable of spreading silently and triggering profound change. In an increasingly technology-driven world, where digital innovation shapes almost every aspect of our lives, we see it as a metaphor for both the opportunities and the risks that come with technological progress.
Many of our songs explore exactly these contrasts: progress and loss of control, speed and orientation, fascination and uncertainty. The name reminds us that technology can inspire and connect us, but it also requires responsibility, awareness, and the ability to question where these developments are leading.
For us, the word Warriors is not about violence or conflict. It represents people who keep moving forward despite uncertainty, fear, or constant change. Our songs often deal with inner struggles, longing, and the search for meaning in an increasingly complex world. In that sense, a warrior is someone who embraces these challenges instead of running away from them.
Ultimately, our goal with Hellkern Warriors is to create a musical universe where darkness and hope exist side by side. We don’t want to provide simple answers. We want to invite listeners to reflect, to interpret, and to experience our music in their own way. How do you approach transforming these darker human experiences into something that feels meaningful, artistic, and emotionally engaging rather than simply focusing on darkness itself?
Hellkern Warriors:
We have never been interested in darkness for its own sake. Instead, we’re fascinated by places, moments, and emotional states where different worlds collide, where technology meets humanity, hope meets uncertainty, reality blends with imagination, and the ordinary gives way to the mysterious. We’re drawn to mystic atmospheres, the unseen, the unexplained, and stories that challenge familiar perspectives.
Every Hellkern Warriors song opens the door to its own world. Sometimes it’s a futuristic city illuminated by neon lights, sometimes an endless road, an abandoned industrial landscape, or a forgotten place. These settings aren’t meant to describe reality literally. They are symbolic spaces where emotions, memories, ideas, and imagination can unfold. We always try to tell new stories, explore different perspectives, and invite listeners into worlds they may never have experienced before.
Musically, we express this philosophy by combining driving guitars, analog synthesizers, cinematic soundscapes, and emotional melodies. Coming from backgrounds that include projects like RADARFIELD, Funeral Records Autoproduction, IMPROMPTUS AD MORTEM, and LEMARCHAND, each of you has already built a strong creative identity before Hellkern Warriors. What inspired you to start this new chapter, and what artistic possibilities did this project allow you to explore that felt different from your previous work?
Hellkern Warriors:
All of our previous projects shaped us as musicians and gave us valuable experience, but Hellkern Warriors was born from the desire to create something that none of us had explored before.
Rather than focusing on a specific genre, we wanted to build a cinematic musical universe where every song tells its own story and opens the door to a different world. This allows us to combine darkwave, gothic rock, alternative rock, industrial influences, and cinematic sound design without feeling restricted by stylistic boundaries.
Another important aspect is the international nature of the band. Instead of trying to sound like a traditional band, we embrace our different musical backgrounds and let them become part of our identity.
Hellkern Warriors also allows us to think beyond individual songs. Every release is part of a larger artistic vision, a growing universe connected by atmosphere, storytelling, and emotion rather than by a single musical formula.

For us, every instrument has a specific role within the story. Everything usually begins with an idea, an image, or sometimes even just the title of a song. Very often, the title itself creates a movie in our minds.
Once the atmosphere becomes clear, the guitars and bass start building the harmonic foundation around the emotional core of the song. Every element is carefully chosen to serve the story and create a specific feeling rather than simply filling space.
The guitars and bass bring energy, tension, and emotion. They can be powerful and aggressive, but also subtle and melancholic — always depending on what the song needs. They shape the emotional landscape.
Bass and drums provide the pulse that carries the listener through the journey, whether it is the unstoppable momentum of “Rain, Steam and Speed” or a slower, more mysterious atmosphere.
The analog synthesizers are probably the most cinematic part of our sound. They are not there just to add melodies; they create space, texture, and a sense of atmosphere. They can sound like distant signals, rising steam, abandoned machines, or endless landscapes, allowing the listener’s imagination to complete the picture.

“Rain, Steam and Speed” was originally inspired by J.M.W. Turner’s painting of the same name. What fascinated us about the artwork was not only the image of a train moving through rain and steam, but the feeling behind it: the encounter between nature, technology, speed, and human perception.
The painting captures a moment of transformation — something powerful and new entering the world, but still surrounded by mystery and uncertainty. That contrast became the emotional foundation of the song.
When we translated this image into music, every instrument became part of the scene. The driving rhythm of the bass and drums represents the unstoppable movement of the train, the mechanical pulse carrying everything forward. Hellkern Warriors:
When writing “Rain, Steam and Speed,” we wanted to capture the feeling of being caught between movement and emotion — the moment when something powerful carries you forward, while you are still searching for something personal within that journey.
The inspiration from Turner’s painting was not only the train itself, but the atmosphere surrounding it: the blurred world, the rain, the steam, and the feeling of something passing by too quickly to fully grasp. There is beauty in that moment, but also a certain melancholy — the awareness that every experience is temporary.
The song explores the contrast between desire and inevitability. The relentless rhythm represents the unstoppable movement of time and life, while the darker textures create a feeling of mystery and tension. The guitars, drums, and synthesizers build the sense of this powerful journey, but the dark and haunting vocals add another dimension — they bring a human presence into this mechanical world and create an almost unsettling, ghostly atmosphere.

For us, the futuristic elements are never about technology itself. They are more about creating a world, a landscape, or a feeling. Synthesizers, textures, and mechanical sounds can represent things that are unknown, distant, or beyond our control — but at the center of every song there is always something deeply human.
When we write about themes like fear, uncertainty, or decay, we are not trying to create darkness for its own sake. These emotions are part of the human experience. Everyone knows the feeling of facing change, losing something, or standing in front of something unknown. That is where the connection with the listener happens.
Our songwriting usually begins with an image, an atmosphere, or an emotional question rather than a traditional song structure. We try to create a world first and then let the music guide us through it. The darker elements create tension, but they also create space for reflection, emotion, and imagination.
The futuristic and cinematic sounds give these feelings a larger scale, almost like a reflection of the world around us. But the voice, the melodies, and the emotional core keep the songs connected to human experience and personal interpretation.

Hellkern Warriors:
The collaborative process within Hellkern Warriors follows a very organic path. Usually, everything begins with Tom creating the first foundation of a song — a raw version built around an initial idea, lyrics, guitar, and vocals. This first version already contains the emotional direction and the atmosphere that we want to explore.
From there, the song grows step by step. Mauricio develops the drum parts, bringing movement, dynamics, and the physical energy of the track. Fabian then adds the bass lines, creating the foundation and pulse that connect the rhythm with the emotional weight of the song. After that, Tom develops the final guitar arrangements and vocal performance, shaping the song into its complete form.
The final layer is added by Kabal, whose analog synthesizers bring the cinematic atmosphere, textures, and additional depth that have become an important part of our sound. These elements help transform the song from a traditional composition into a complete sonic landscape.
Once all parts are in place, the song is mixed and mastered by Mauricio at Artgot Studio, where the different elements are carefully balanced and brought together into one unified sound.

“Rain, Steam and Speed” was built around the idea of creating a feeling of unstoppable movement. From the beginning, we wanted the song to feel like a journey — powerful, dramatic, and slightly mysterious, inspired by Turner’s painting and the emotions it evokes.
The arrangement was developed to follow this cinematic idea. The rhythm section became the driving force of the song, with the drums and bass creating the feeling of a machine in motion, constantly pushing forward. The riffs were written to follow the sounds and rhythm of the lyrics, while also carrying both the physical power of the train and the emotional tension behind the image.
The guitars were an important part of creating the atmosphere. The heavier riffs represent the force and weight of the train, while the higher guitar melodies reflect the whistle cutting through the rain and steam. The darker guitar layers add tension and create the feeling of something vast and unknown surrounding the journey.
The analog synthesizers came in as the final layer, adding another dimension to the journey. Having experienced musicians within Hellkern Warriors gives us the freedom to approach the creative process with both intuition and precision. Everyone in the band brings years of musical experience, different influences, and a strong understanding of their own instrument, which allows us to focus on the emotion and the story behind the music.
Mauricio’s background as a drummer, producer, and studio engineer at Artgot Studio plays an important role in shaping our sound. His experience helps us understand not only how to perform a song, but also how to capture the right energy, atmosphere, and dynamics during the recording process.
At the same time, we do not approach production in a purely technical way. Experience gives us the confidence to experiment — to explore unusual sounds, unexpected arrangements, and different textures until we find the elements that truly serve the song.

Looking back at this early success, what moments have felt most meaningful to you and shown that Hellkern Warriors was connecting with audiences beyond your expectations?

When we started Hellkern Warriors, our main goal was to create a unique atmosphere and tell stories through sound. Seeing our songs receive international radio airplay across countries like Germany, the UK, Ireland, France, Italy, Belgium, Spain, Greece, Slovenia, the Czech Republic, the USA, Canada, and Australia was a very special moment for us. It showed us that the worlds we create through our music can travel far beyond where they began and reach listeners across different cultures.
Another important milestone was being featured in Orkus Magazin in the July/August issue. Having our music recognized by a respected publication within the alternative music scene was a great confirmation that the atmosphere and ideas behind Hellkern Warriors are reaching people who connect with this kind of artistic expression.
The strong response to “The Pulse In The Void, Vol. 1” was another important moment for us. We created this digital release ourselves and made it available for free on Bandcamp, bringing together Hellkern Warriors with international artists from the scene. The positive reactions showed us that there is a community of listeners and musicians who share a passion for dark, atmospheric, and emotionally driven music.
The recognition through radio stations, media coverage, platforms like Number1Music, and the support from listeners and artists around the world are deeply appreciated. But the most rewarding part is knowing that the emotions and atmospheres we put into the songs can reach people across different cultures and backgrounds.

We never see videos as simply a way to promote a song. They are another layer of the story — one possible interpretation of the atmosphere and emotions behind the music. A video can offer a visual perspective, but it should never limit the listener’s own imagination or define a single meaning.
Without visuals, every listener is free to create their own inner images and interpret the song in a completely personal way. With a video, we invite them into one possible version of that world, while still leaving space for their own thoughts, memories, and emotions.

One of the biggest challenges has been building something that does not follow an established formula. Hellkern Warriors was never created with the goal of fitting into a specific trend or following what is currently popular. We wanted to develop our own sound, atmosphere, and identity, and that requires patience and a strong belief in the vision.
Creating music in an independent way also means taking responsibility for every part of the process — from songwriting and recording to production, visuals, and connecting with listeners. Every step depends on our own commitment, creativity, and energy.
One of the most important lessons we have learned is that authenticity cannot be forced. If you create music only with the expectation of gaining attention or fitting into a certain scene, you risk losing the emotional core that makes it meaningful. The strongest ideas come from staying connected to the original feeling and intention behind the music.
Of course, there are moments where progress takes longer than expected or where you have to overcome obstacles. But these challenges have also made us more focused and more confident in our own path. They have taught us that building something unique is not about rushing toward a destination, but about consistently developing a world that feels honest and true to who we are as artists.

With members based across different countries and cultures, Hellkern Warriors represents a truly international collaboration. How has working across different locations, backgrounds, and artistic traditions influenced the creativity and perspective behind your music?
Hellkern Warriors:
Hellkern Warriors is not tied to a physical rehearsal space or a fixed location — it exists through communication, shared ideas, and a common creative vision.
We do not rely on a traditional rehearsal room or fixed weekly sessions where someone is often missing. Instead, each of us contributes when we are available and fully present in the creative process. This makes the work more focused and intentional, although sometimes slower.
This way of working has greatly influenced our creativity.
